About Maithili language: Maithili is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in Nepal and northern India by about 35 million people, out of which about 3 million reside in Nepal. It is recognized as one of the largest languages in India, and is the second most widely used language in Nepal. In India, Maithili is mainly spoken in Bihar and in its modufied form in urban Jharkhand. Dialects include Bajjika, Dehati, Kisan, Bantar, Barmeli, Musar, Tati, Kortha, Jolaha, Thetiya, Thēthi, Tharuwat etc. Standard Maithili is spoken by Madhesi people.
